I'll post an excerpt tonight, just because what I've been working on is so Bellingham it hurts. It's a little long, and maybe not as exciting as what some of you have read so far, but here goes.

And as a note, James and Rachel are not modeled after anyone in particular, but kind of an amalgam(sp?) of people I know, so if you see something that reminds you of yourself or someone else, don't get your panties in a bunch about it. It's fiction, for God's sake.

I'm DONE! At a smashing 50,091 words, I was the third registered Bellingham entrant to officially hit the 50k mark.

What lies ahead is a vast and barren desert of editing. I would like to finish that process with something readable, if not publishable. If I decline to self-publish, I may make copies of the edited version available on CDs.

I'm just way too in love with the story and the characters to bury it now, and as it is a Bellingham novel, I kind of feel obligated to finish it.

CONGRATULATIONS to Lefty also, who finished just a bit after me, to be the fourth registered Bellingham entrant to finish.

Seriously, I would never have made it without him. In the support of a friend sense, and also in the more concrete sense that he taught me a lot about how storytelling works in a novel (as opposed to a short story or a journal entry), and even wrote up a little card of suggestions to help me through the rough spots.

I wish I could've returned the favor, but I just didn't have the help to give.

And now, Bellingham, I'm off to bed. Goodnight, fair city. Dream mysterious dreams of mighty angels and green-eyed devils.
