Jul. 9th, 2007 09:55 pmI was watching Man Vs Wild tonight with Mike, and we saw, ON PURPOSE, the dude jump through the ice covering a lake. This was one of the most heart-pounding television moments for me ever, because where I grew up, you were trained from a young age (not just in scouts or at camp, but EVEN IN SCHOOL) that if you fall through the ice, you are dead. We were raised with the knowledge that barring some miracle, if we broke through the ice on a lake and fell through, nobody would be able to get to us in time to save us. Death was as certain as if you had just fallen from a plane.
I don't know if it's like that for kids in the lower forty-eight.
