I started my cleaning tonight because I appear to have a very full schedule tomorrow.

I cleaned the bathroom (tub, toilet, sink and vanity), did the dishes, picked up and dusted my room, gathered up the laundry, and wiped down my keyboard, mouse, and computer desk. I have not scrubbed the kitchen counters, swept, mopped or vacuumed.

I purchased a DVD player! The compact, off-brand machine I was looking at for $34.99 was suddenly marked down to $24.99 tonight, and I took it as a sign. It's just the right size for my bedroom.

I also got an RCA audio cable that now runs from the DVD player to my stereo. No reason to run it from the television... cooking shows are not often improved by dramatic audio. I also got a splitter and a surge protector, as my previous surge protector is currently in use by my douchebag roomate. As is my floor lamp and a currently unknown number of my dishes.

The point being, I can now plug more things in and can use my glitter lamp! The glitter lamp is like a lava lamp, except that instead of globs of lava going gloop gloop, it has glitter that goes sparkle sparkle. It's purple, and I like it quite a bit.

I also have a lava lamp I would like to use, it's green, but it needs a new lightbulb. I got it for $1.75.

I'm in the market for a new television. I may need to save up for a bit.

The price range I'm considering is $500.00 to $1000.00. Preferably closer to $500.00.

Having measured my livingroom, I probably don't want anything smaller than 30 inches or larger than 50 inches. I'd prefer smaller and better quality, since I rent and may need to move somewhere with a smaller livingroom at some point.

I want something NEW. With a warranty.

I know absolutely nothing about televisions.

But I figure I have some friends that are more technically savvy than I, and thought I would send out an appeal for advice.

I would rather have good picture quality than a massive screen. I want something relatively durable, as I intend to sink some money into this and will not be interested in purchasing a new television for at least a decade. I don't watch sports, and I don't generally play console games, although I may be interested in purchasing a Wii in the future.

I do love watching movies.

Anyone have any advice on the type of television I should be shopping for?
