So it turns out that when I skip a meal, I get cranky and wobbly. I can only assume this is because I'm eating so much less in terms of calories than I used to.

And much, much less in terms of carbohydrates.

I got home from the grocery store feeling desperately shaky and sullen. I spent so much time looking at labels at the store. I didn't expect to take as long as I did. Note to self, eat something before shopping.

I got some whole wheat hamburger buns and some Gardenburgers, a package of discounted sirloin (the sell-by date is today), a ton of veggies, some boneless skinless chicken breasts, whole wheat tortillas and a whole bunch of other stuff. I spent like, seventy-five dollars.

I ate a serving (well, a little more than a serving, maybe a serving and a third) of the sirloin on top of a salad dressed with olive oil and lemon juice with some feta. It was huge, the salad covered the entire plate. It was just over 500 calories, according to my best estimate. Lean, delicious, satisfying. My hands were shaking when I sat down to dinner, and I'm feeling a bit better now.

I also have two or three servings of the steak left over, not bad for five bucks.

Actually, now that I added it all up, dinner puts me just over 1000 calories today, which might account for the shakiness.

I should have a snack later.

Oh, I got wheat chex cereal, which has as much fiber as it does sugars, the best ratio I've seen in a cold breakfast cereal thus far.

I think that the best brand of whole wheat anything, hands down, is Franz. Now, this may be because of some bad reason, but don't tell me if you know what it is because I am enjoying my denial.

Have you had any of the corn from Youngstock's lately? So sweet, so huge! I crave it every weekend.

I'm trying really hard not to eat corn, just because it's so sugary. I don't know if sweet corn counts as a grain or a vegetable...

Allie, it is important to have sugar in the morning, it is necessary to elevate your blood sugar. Even though you aren't moving around 8 hours is still a long time to go without eating. As far as only eating 1000 calories until dinner, O hate to say it but you body won't let you lose weight that way. 1000 calories or less are generally considered starvation diet and your body, to conserve fuel resources, generaly metabolises muscle mass instead of fats. And please remember, carbs aren't bad, just eat good ones and in moderation.

Plus, awesome you decided to be healthier, I wish you the best of luck :)

I didn't INTEND to only eat that little, I just got to doing stuff and didn't take a lunch out.

Shopping on a diet takes a long time, due to all the label reading, and I didn't take that into account. I had thought I'd be home in time for a late lunch, and that didn't happen.

Milk and strawberries both contain sugar... so I'm not too concerned with that, particularly since I'll be eating again in two hours anyway.

Caloric total yesterday before bedtime was around 1629, that seems pretty reasonable to me.

Sounds like an awesome shopping trip. I totaly know where you are coming from with the grocery store time drain. Some times I just end up eating the same thing for a couple weeks in a row at lunch cuz it's so much time and work to get something new and healthy. Basicly my breakfasts and lucnhes tend to get eaten while I'm in a hurry (morning routine and wolfing down at work) so I don't put much thought into them since I don't get a chance to 'enjoy' them anyways.

Dinner on the other hand.... pull out the stops babe. That sirloin salad sounds yum. What are you buyng for the salad greens part?
