So it turns out that when I skip a meal, I get cranky and wobbly. I can only assume this is because I'm eating so much less in terms of calories than I used to.
And much, much less in terms of carbohydrates.
I got home from the grocery store feeling desperately shaky and sullen. I spent so much time looking at labels at the store. I didn't expect to take as long as I did. Note to self, eat something before shopping.
I got some whole wheat hamburger buns and some Gardenburgers, a package of discounted sirloin (the sell-by date is today), a ton of veggies, some boneless skinless chicken breasts, whole wheat tortillas and a whole bunch of other stuff. I spent like, seventy-five dollars.
I ate a serving (well, a little more than a serving, maybe a serving and a third) of the sirloin on top of a salad dressed with olive oil and lemon juice with some feta. It was huge, the salad covered the entire plate. It was just over 500 calories, according to my best estimate. Lean, delicious, satisfying. My hands were shaking when I sat down to dinner, and I'm feeling a bit better now.
I also have two or three servings of the steak left over, not bad for five bucks.
Actually, now that I added it all up, dinner puts me just over 1000 calories today, which might account for the shakiness.
I should have a snack later.
Oh, I got wheat chex cereal, which has as much fiber as it does sugars, the best ratio I've seen in a cold breakfast cereal thus far.

Date: 2007-08-19 05:40 pm (UTC)Shopping on a diet takes a long time, due to all the label reading, and I didn't take that into account. I had thought I'd be home in time for a late lunch, and that didn't happen.
Milk and strawberries both contain sugar... so I'm not too concerned with that, particularly since I'll be eating again in two hours anyway.
Caloric total yesterday before bedtime was around 1629, that seems pretty reasonable to me.
