Okay. In my suitcase I have packed: the camp stove, a sleeping bag, a small inflatable mattress, a pair of pants, a pair of shorts, many pairs of underwear, a grocery sack for packing dirty underwear in, several shirts including layering options, three pair pajama pants, two old tank tops, my swimsuit, a towel, and a makeup bag full of basic makeup, very basic hair needs (elastics and clips), and a bottle of moisturizer.

In my carryon I will pack: extra undies, an extra set of clothes (in case my bag gets lost), travel-size toothpaste and toothbrush, sketchbook, pencils, journal, pen, hairbrush, feminine supplies, my wallet, my phone (and charger), and my I-pod.

Should I take my checkbook? With my check card I really shouldn't need it, and the only thing worse than losing your checkbook is losing it somewhere hundreds of miles away from where you live.

Am I forgetting anything? I feel like I've packed too much.

At te risk of sounding like a shitty friend who doesn't keep in touch as much as she should, where in the hell are you going?

Also, as an over-packer I think that it only becomes too much when you can't carry it a decent distance. (I know this from having had to kick my duffel bag down the stairs to the Harper's Ferry Amtrak station.)

...but within that limitation, you never know when you might need something.

Ah, it's true, we don't keep in touch much, but that doesn't make us shitty friends, it just makes us more interesting... we'll have more to talk about!
